How to start a group
Set up a local vegan group
Linking up with local vegans needn’t be hard, and it can be a lot of fun. If there’s no local group in your town already, why not start one?
The Vegan Society has a volunteer Contacts’ Co-ordinator who can help you. One way to start is to choose a vegan-friendly café, and spread the word that vegans are meeting there. There are often free noticeboards in cafés, libraries and supermarkets. If you become a Vegan Society contact we can email your contact details to Vegan Society members in your area – ask our Contacts’ Co-ordinator.
With a few supportive friends, you could launch your group with a vegan free food fair. Don’t forget to tell your local papers and radio station – inspire vegans and non-vegans alike with your enthusiasm! You could help with fund-raising events for a local animal sanctuary – that can be a good way to meet like-minded people in your area. You can use Vegan Society free leaflets to offer information to local people – such as friends, family and neighbours, and chefs, teachers and traders.
So if you’ve been thinking of starting a group, why not step into action? People are doing the same all around the UK and The Vegan Society can help you.
