Easter
It's springtime! And it's all about life renewing itself - eggs hatching, rabbits being born and flowers budding... so why on earth it's celebrated by painting hard boiled eggs and rolling them down the hillside is anybody's guess. We recommend replacing the egg with a painted avocado!
For Easter vegan chocolate treats try Whizzers Speckled Eggs - these are little tiny candy-coated dairy-free chocolate eggs that are available all year round! You’ll find these in health food shops or ‘free from’ sections in supermarkets. Chocolates sell solid Mini Eggs and bunny shapes as well as hollow Easter Eggs. Order from chocolates directly. Kinnerton’s range of dairy-free Easter Eggs are available in supermarkets or look out for Divines hollow dark chocolate egg or their solid mini eggs.
The other main Easter food is hot cross buns. However, it's not difficult to find a vegan brand, and most supermarkets sell vegan varieties including Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, the Co-op and Budgens.Sunblest hot cross buns are also suitable for vegans.
For a Simnel Cake try the Vegan Cake Girl who will mail order you your desired cake, or don your apron and make your own.
